ABOUT CHASTY

Chasty King is a Certified Drug & Alcohol Counselor and North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist, as well as a public speaker who shares her testimony with the world. She works with Phoenix Counseling at Gaylain's House of Hope which houses eight women recovering from addiction. Formerly, she worked at The Olive Branch Ministry where she managed the overdose response team and syringe access program of Gaston County. She graduated Gaston College on May 14, 2021, with an Associate Degree in Applied Science and majored in Human Services Substance Abuse Technology. She is the President and co-founder of The Calling, Inc., which is an outreach ministry that is focused on helping those experiencing homelessness, incarceration, and/or addiction. Furthermore, Chasty is an ordained evangelist in the office of five-fold ministry and a business owner of Gratitude Press, LLC, which is a company who creates faith-based and recovery creations such as t-shirts, mugs, and books. 

She stepped into the Human Services field for one reason and that is to make a difference in people’s lives, no matter how big or small. Wendy Winstead, a late former substance abuse counselor of Ms. King who ended up becoming a good friend once told her, “I want to make a difference—not to be noticed—but to make a noticeable difference.” That could not be truer for her. Ms. King wants to live out the legacy Winstead could not continue. Chasty believes the Human Services Profession is more than just “helping people." She says it is about meeting people where they are, impressing people’s hearts, taking them by the hand, and walking with them to a better place.

Chasty King is also the author of Septic: Being Cleansed from the Inside Out, which is her debut memoir that published on February of 2022. Her mission is to make Jesus known through her life and bring the Kingdom of God everywhere her feet tread. She lives in Kings Mountain, North Carolina with her small dog named Holly and pit bulls named Arrow, Novak, and Bo. Her hometown is Bessemer City. When she is not tending to responsibilities or serving others, she loves to read, write, draw, and/or edit videos. Chasty enjoys watching preaching/teaching faith and kingdom messages.
